Effect of blue and violet light on shrinkage of CQ/TPO composite

This article explores the impact of different light wavelengths on the polymerization of dental composite resins containing two photoinitiators: camphorquinone (CQ) and Lucirin TPO (TPO). The study evaluates particle displacements at various curing depths using photopolymerization units (LCUs) with violet, blue, and conventional light. Violet light demonstrated limited depth effectiveness, while blue light showed uniform penetration. Conventional LCUs, combining blue and violet light, offer synergistic potential but face challenges in uniformity. This study emphasizes the need to optimize LCUs and restorative materials to enhance polymerization effectiveness across depths.
